A Guide to Different Types of Air-driven Liquid Pumps Offered by High Pressure Technologies

Air-driven liquid pumps are pumps that use compressed air as its power source in order to create hydraulic pressure. These pumps are used for a wide variety of water, oil, and chemical applications. High Pressure Technologies provides a wide range of air driven Maximator liquid pumps, with pressure capabilities from 60 PSI to 60,000 PSI. All HPT pump models are reliable, robust, compact, and easy to maintain. This post introduces you to different models of Maximator liquid pumps provided by High Pressure Technologies.

Types of Liquid Pumps Provided by Maximator

The liquid pumps provided by us are organized under these categories:

  • Water or Oil Service Pumps: The pumps are used with water or oil.
  • Oil or Oil/Water Service Pumps: These pumps are designed to be used with oil or oil-water.
  • Chemical Service Pumps: The pumps are designed for carrying various types of chemicals.

An Introduction to Different Types of Maximator Water or Oil Service Pumps

The following are various types of Maximator water or oil service pumps provided by us:

PP Series: Maximator PP series high pressure pumps are provided as single and double acting with single or double air drive heads. These pumps can achieve pressures as high as 60,000 psi and provide low flow rates. These pumps are compact sized, and have rugged construction.

  • The pumps are designed for 15-145 PSI compressed air supply.
  • Some pumps in this category have anodized aluminum bodies with stainless steel plungers. However, others have bodies and plungers made of stainless steel.
  • All PP series pumps have a bottom inlet.

PP-HL Series: Maximator PP-HL pumps come with a hand-lever for powering manually & also can be connected to your compressed air supply. PP-HL pumps can be used with oil and water. Maximator PP-HL pumps offer precise calibration during the pressurization of pressure transducers and gauges.

  • PP-HL pumps have stainless steel bodies, Buna N O-rings, and polyurethane seals.
  • The pumps can be easily wall mounted. The base plate is provided on request.
  • Comes with hand lever for manual operation of the pump (topping off and low volume pressurization that require precise pressures.
  • The pumps are designed for 15-145 PSI compressed air supply.

L Series: Maximator L Pumps are for pressures up to 60,000 psi and are used in applications that require a larger flow rate. These are pumps have stainless steel bodies, and are available as single acting and double acting with a single or double air drive heads. All L-series pumps have Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) seals, as well as Viton O-rings.

  • The pumps are offered with a side or bottom inlet.
  • The pumps feature ½ ” FNPT.
  • The pumps are designed for 15-145 PSI compressed air supply

L-D Series: The liquid pumps are double acting variants of the L-series pumps, which are referred as workhorse series.

  • These pumps deliver 50% more flow and less pulsation.
  • These pumps have 2 separate hydraulic plungers (2 fluid inlets & outlets) which allows the operator to use 2 fluids (mixing) and for doubling the output flow rate.
  • The pumps have stainless steel bodies and plunger fitted with UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) seals and Viton O-rings.
  • The pumps are designed for 15-145 PSI compressed air supply.
  • Some models of these pumps are available with bottom inlet or side inlet.
  • All the L-D pumps are equipped with an unregulated port.

GX Series: These high flow pumps are suitable for pressure of up to 15,000 psi. GX pumps feature stainless steel wetted parts, and various corrosion resistant components, which make them ideal for offshore applications.

  • The pumps are designed for 15-145 PSI compressed air supply.
  • All GX pumps are provided with a pre-plumbed pilot port, which enables easy pressure control.
  • The inlet is located at the head end, whereas the outlet is on the side of head.

GPD Series: These high flow pumps are suitable for pressure of up to 40,000 psi. These are double acting pumps, which are designed to provide fast liquid filling. The pump performs this by providing discharge flows at high pressures. The GPD series are capable of delivering 48 liters per minute, with discharge pressures up to 40,175 psi. The pumps require air drive pressure ranging 15 psi to 145 psi.

  • GPD pumps can handle water, chemicals, and hydraulic oils. They are constructed using industrial grade corrosion resistant materials.
  • The design of the GPD pumps allows for safe operation and easy maintenance. The inlet and outlet check valves are cartridge styled, allowing for quick repairs and component replacement.
  • The air and hydraulic sections are separated by a distancing component between them. This eliminates any possibilities of cross contamination.
  • The GPD Series are supplied with a declaration of conformity as defined in 94/9/EC. The declaration states that the pumps may be used in areas with explosion hazards. The pumps also adhere to IIB Constructive Safety Explosion Group II Category 2G.
  • For protection against excessive outlet pressures, an air safety valve can be fitted to the pump’s air control unit.
  • The GPD Series Pumps are used in a wide range of industries. They are primarily used in steel, refinery, petrochemical, civil engineering, and oil and gas industries.
